About

Voices of the Inner West is a grassroots initiative bringing people together to listen, connect and shape the future of Melbourne’s Inner West. Through our Community Listening process, the people who live and work in the Inner West are sharing their perspectives on the issues that matter most to them and the kind of representation they want to see. Voices of the Inner West is built on a simple idea: communities should have a real voice in the decisions that affect their future.

Our aim is to identify and endorse a community-backed candidate who will represent the priorities of the Footscray electorate.

We are a registered not-for-profit incorporated association, formed in February 2026.

Our TEAM

The area around Footscray has been home to the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation for more than 40,000 years. We pay respect to elders past, present and emerging. Maribyrnong is a version of the Aboriginal term ‘Mirring-gnay-bir-nong’, which means ‘I can hear a ringtail possum’.
