Our community listening report

From March to June 2026 Voices of the Inner West engaged in six types of community listening activities to help us understand the key issues in our community. Our report of these activities summarises our findings based on three key areas:

~ what feels under pressure – community priorities

~ what good political representation looks like

~ what people love about living in the inner west

The area around Footscray has been home to the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation for more than 40,000 years. We pay respect to elders past, present and emerging. Maribyrnong is a version of the Aboriginal term ‘Mirring-gnay-bir-nong’, which means ‘I can hear a ringtail possum’.
