Voices of the Inner West provides real, inclusive representation to advocate for our community and offer a vision for the future of the Inner West beyond political cycles.

The Movement

The Community Independents movement is a grassroots people-powered political and social movement that is changing the face of Australian politics by putting people, not political parties, at the heart of our democracy. It is values driven and focused beyond the electoral cycle.

The traditional two-party system has failed to deliver effective solutions, leaving millions of Australians disillusioned with politics as usual. The 2025 Election showed the Community Independents Movement to be the fastest growing political movement in the country.

Community independents Project

The area around Footscray has been home to the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation for more than 40,000 years. We pay respect to elders past, present and emerging. Maribyrnong is a version of the Aboriginal term ‘Mirring-gnay-bir-nong’, which means ‘I can hear a ringtail possum’.
